This is something that I finished just before leaving for uni. In similar vein to my crane mobile, I made another one, but added varying strings of lucky stars.

Materials:
70 x lucky star strips
3 x patterned origami paper (cut to fit card)
45cm x 3cm length of card
Length of cotton thread and needle

I have a bit more energy to leave a suitable comment worthy of such a creation! (Dramatic...I know...I'm sick remember? ;) )
Anyway, I have not ever seen anything like this before. This is great, really pretty and unique and the starts are exceptions. What did you use to to make them? Wrapping paper? ;)
Anyway, great job and wonderful idea. I think you scored on this one.

Haha, thank you. I was given packs of lucky star paper; they are small strips of patterned and textured paper. The part where all the strings are attached to is card covered in origami paper.
